Care and maintenance

Follow the maintenance tips and enjoy unique ceramics.

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing Imperfecta Studio. My handmade pottery is crafted with care and designed to bring beauty and functionality to your daily life. To ensure the longevity of your pieces, please follow handle and care guidelines.

2. General Care Tips

2.1. Handwashing: Imperfecta Studio recommends handwashing your pottery with mild soap and warm water. Avoid abrasive scouring pads that may scratch the surface.

2.2. Extreme Temperature Changes: Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as placing hot pottery directly into cold water, as this may cause thermal shock and lead to cracking.

2.3. Stacking and Storage: When storing your pottery, avoid stacking pieces directly on top of each other to prevent potential scratches or chipping. Use soft padding or cloth between stacked items.

3. Glaze and Surface Care

3.1. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on glazed surfaces, as they may damage the finish. Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaning agents.

3.2. Stain Prevention: To prevent staining, promptly clean pottery that comes into contact with strongly colored or acidic substances like red wine or tomato sauce.

4. Decorative Pieces and Artistic Considerations

4.1. Sunlight Exposure: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may affect the color and appearance of certain glazes. Display your pottery away from direct sunlight when possible.

5. Handling and Transportation

5.1. Handle with Care: Handle your pottery with care, especially items with delicate features or intricate designs. Everything that is glazed always have the glaze removed from the surface that touches the shelve in the kiln, otherwise it would get stuck when the glaze melts in the high temperature. This means that some of the products may have a rough surface on the bottom, which may cause scratches. To protect the surfaces, I recommend sticking protecting furniture pads in felt, rubber or cork onto the ceramic object to avoid scratches.

5.2. Transportation: When transporting your pottery, secure items properly to prevent shifting and potential breakage.
